I phoned Kay's cabs to order a car for a simple local trip, they asked me to pay the full fare in advance which I did. I gave the operator my address which the operator clearly got. Few minutes later I received a text message saying that the driver would meet me in at a 'pickup spot' around the corner from me, which was not what was agreed, then I get a call from the driver telling me to come out, I was already outside my door so I said yes and he hung up, after a couple of minutes waiting ouside I get a text saying my ride had been 'cancelled'! I then rang Kay's again and the same operator tells me the driver was at my address but I wasn't there! He blatantly refused to listen to me saying the driver's 'map' showed him at my address which was impossible. To add injury to insult when I asked for a refund he told me they would refund the fare minus £5.10 'booking fee' for a service I never received! When I complained about this the operator hung up on me and was very rude during the whole exchange. I would never call them again even if it was the last cab company on earth. Avoid at all cost.
We missed our show because the taxi didn’t turn up on time. Their custom is just to tell you that it will be 20-25 mins maximum, we were told after20 by text the driver was on his way and we could track him after 40 mins and seeing the driver was dotting about the city centre still at least 15 mins from us and still not heading towards us. I called to be told the delay was due to lock down!!! We have been out of lockdown for 18 months!!! They did refund the £24 they insisted we prepaid, but we are gutted to have spent the money on a show to have missed it ????
They charge me £33 pounds for a cab from leith to the centre 2.2 miles... yes I never asked for a price up front but a 2 mile ride and when I tried to call the main number to speak to someone about this I got no answer. Very poor indeed but I will keep calling. I got another company return journey for £13!!!!
